Job summary

The Children’s Guild is seeking a compassionate Classroom Aide to support students with autism and other special needs in a DC-area classroom. You will provide individualized attention and collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to meet IEP goals.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of related experience, and strong communication, patience, and empathy. Benefits include competitive pay and a supportive, mission-driven work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; experience in special education preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with students with special needs or autism.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; patient and empathetic.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • Engage in family outreach and school-based activities.
  • Participate in professional development and training.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to implement IEP goals.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Document student progress and behavioral observations.
