Job summary

The NiSource Public Affairs and Sustainability intern will support the work of the NiSource Federal Government Affairs team based in Washington, D.C., which is responsible for the execution of strategies to influence federal government policies and regulations. This internship offers hands‑on experience in developing and driving NiSource-wide policy priorities.

The position will also assist with NiSource’s Political Action Committee (PAC) and related initiatives.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in college/grad program focused on Political Science, Public Policy, Energy, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• Able to work 40 hrs/week during the summer.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Federal Government Affairs team to assist in the execution of government affairs strategies designed to meet the organization’s goals.
• Supports the development and execution of public policy priorities and advocacy plans integral to NiSource’s success.
• Contributes to PAC membership growth and record-keeping efforts.
• Prepares written summaries of testimonies related to hearings highlighting potential impacts on business operations.
• Helps advance PAC-related efforts across the enterprise and cross-functional teams.
