American University seeks a part-time student for the DC Reads Education Advocate role at Washington, DC. You will foster community, coordinate with site supervisors, and support staff with timely feedback.
This position is open to enrolled AU students and eligible for Work Study funding with some restrictions. You will conduct biweekly check-ins, assist with attendance logs, participate in TL meetings, and help recruit new Education Advocates through events and information sessions.
This position is available only to enrolled American University students.
Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. 8 - 10 hours per week.
Salary Range: $18.40 per hour.
Required Education and Experience: Have tutored with DC Reads either as a FWS Education Advocate or Volunteer for at least one full semester. Be in good standing with the DC Reads Program (showed up to site on time, attended site meetings and biweekly meetings, engaged at site, etc.). Be able to work 8 - 10 hours a week during the Academic Year. Responsible, professional, good communicator, growth mindset. Have a demonstrated commitment to educational equity.
