Job summary

American University seeks a part-time student for the DC Reads Education Advocate role at Washington, DC. You will foster community, coordinate with site supervisors, and support staff with timely feedback.

This position is open to enrolled AU students and eligible for Work Study funding with some restrictions. You will conduct biweekly check-ins, assist with attendance logs, participate in TL meetings, and help recruit new Education Advocates through events and information sessions.

Qualifications

• Good communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
• Experience assisting or coordinating volunteers is a plus.
• Willingness to lead or co-facilitate trainings and TL meetings.

Responsibilities

• Foster a sense of community among Education Advocates and maintain biweekly check-ins with site supervisors and DC Reads lead team.
• Respond to emails within 24 hours, submit timesheets, and manage attendance/planning logs bi-weekly; support semester evaluations.
• Engage in recruitment activities: tabling, flyers, university fairs, announcements, social media; conduct interviews and info sessions.
