Job summary

Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, DC, is seeking an Operations Lead to coordinate daily pulling, staging, verification and handoff of orders for pickup and final-mile delivery. You will serve as the on-site contact for drivers and partners, ensuring accuracy, on-time readiness, and compliant with food safety practices.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in warehouse/logistics, forklift certification, strong organization, teamwork, and the ability to resolve routine

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or order fulfillment experience.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Ability to organize daily work, prioritize changing assignments, meet pick schedules, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced warehouse.
• Clear communication and teamwork with warehouse colleagues, drivers, internal departments and external partners.
• Sound judgment and dependability; ability to escalate larger concerns as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily workflow for pulling, staging, organizing, verifying, and releasing orders for pickup and delivery.
• Confirm product quantities, order information, driver assignments, staging locations, and required paperwork before release; resolve routine discrepancies.
• Maintain orderly, clearly labeled staging and pickup areas; track handoffs and ensure accurate documentation.
• Serve as on-site point of contact for drivers and pickup partners; communicate schedules, changes, delays, and order status.
• Help with order fulfillment, work orders, inventory movement, loading, reconciliation, and housekeeping.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and product handling procedures; ensure safe equipment operation and cleanliness.
