Job summary

Allstate Insurance seeks a Principal Engineer to guide the DBaaS platform and modernize our enterprise database landscape. You will partner with engineering, security, and product teams to deliver scalable, AI-ready database services and champion automation.

You will mentor engineers, influence senior leaders, and drive IaC, self-service, and API-driven delivery across SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud-native environments, ensuring resilient, secure platforms.

Qualifications

12+ years of database engineering, platform engineering, or related fields.
5+ years leading large-scale enterprise database platforms or modernization efforts.
Experience in large, complex enterprise environments with highly available, secure platforms.
Deep expertise in SQL Server and Oracle with exposure to PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis or cloud-native databases.

Responsibilities

Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of DBaaS across traditional and cloud-native databases.
Mentor engineers and foster a culture of engineering excellence and modernization.
Drive automation, IaC, APIs, and self-service capabilities to improve delivery and reliability.
Partner with senior leaders to align platform investments with enterprise priorities.
Define metrics and KPIs for platform reliability, performance, and developer experience.
