Job summary

Dexian is seeking a Database Engineer to develop and maintain database applications with a focus on performance and modernization. The role involves enterprise-level data solutions in a collaborative Houston environment, delivering robust data services.

You will convert RPG code to SQL stored procedures, tune performance, implement logging, and read RPG programs. Expect exposure to Python, microservices, and VS Code alongside REST APIs and Git-based workflows.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and maintaining database applications, with dynamic SQL.
• Strong expertise in SQL stored procedures in the described environment.
• Ability to read RPGIV, RPGLE, RPGFree and embedded SQL.
• Experience modernizing RPG apps into SQL stored procedures.
• Familiarity with source control and deployment frameworks.
• Experience integrating with REST APIs and JSON data.
• Exposure to Python, microservices, and VS Code development.
• Proficiency with Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain database applications on the platform with dynamic SQL.
• Convert RPG code to SQL stored procedures and tune performance.
• Implement logging and exception handling for robust operation.
• Read and interpret RPGIV, RPGLE, RPGFree programs and embedded SQL.
• Modernize RPG applications by converting to SQL stored procedures.
• Collaborate using internal tools for version control and deployment.
• Interact with front-end systems via REST APIs and JSON.
• Contribute to development projects including Python and microservices in VS Code.
• Use version control systems to manage code changes and enable teamwork.
