Job summary

The Jupiter Group, Inc. seeks a seasoned IBM iSeries DB2 developer to design and optimize database-focused applications. You will work with dynamic SQL, convert RPG code to SQL stored procedures, and perform performance tuning with robust logging and exception handling.

Reading RPGIV/RPGLE/RPGFree, and modernization from RPG to SQL are key requirements. Candidates should have hands-on experience with REST APIs and JSON, plus exposure to Python, microservices, and VS Code IDE.

Qualifications

• Must have expert SQL stored procedures on IBM iSeries (DB2) platform.
• Experience reading and converting RPGIV/RPGLE/RPGFree, with no embedded SQL.
• Experience modernizing RPG to SQL stored procedures on DB2.

Job description

First round on-site interview is required. Remote after that.

Required skills:

• Develop and maintain various database applications on the IBM iseries platform, utilizing dynamic SQL, convert RPG code to sql stored procedures, performance tuning, logging and exception handling.
• Expert SQL stored procedures, development experience in db2 IBM iseries platform. Please note that this is a MUST. Embedded SQL and RPG experience is not a fit.
• Able to read RPGIV, RPGLE, RPGFree programs, embedded SQL
• Conversion/modernization experience from RPG to SQL stored procedures in db2
• IBM tools such as Aldon, RDI, ACS etc
• + Application development experience interacting with front end using REST APIs, Json
• + exposure to python, microservices, VS code IDE development
