Job summary

UPMC Shadyside is recruiting two full-time daytime Solid Tumor Oncology Hospitalists to provide inpatient care for adults with solid tumor malignancies. Daytime-only, 12-hour shifts with no overnight shifts, based on a published schedule.

The physicians will evaluate and manage hospitalized patients, coordinate with outpatient oncology teams, and hand off to the overnight clinical team.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required and board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• Completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
• Eligibility for PA license in Pennsylvania is not required; license in PA is expected for practice.
• Experience in hospital medicine or caring for patients with cancer is preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and multidisciplinary care commitment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and admit hospitalized adults with solid tumor malignancies from multiple sources.
• Provide inpatient medical management and coordinate with outpatient oncology teams.
• Initiate diagnostic evaluations, manage oncology-related complications, and stabilize urgent issues.
• Coordinate consultations with medical/surgical specialists and ensure handoffs to overnight teams.
• Document accurately in the electronic health record and participate in quality initiatives.
