Job summary

Mercy Surgery Center is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse PreOp PACU to provide continuous, high-quality nursing care as patients emerge from anesthesia. The role includes oversight of the center's Infection Control program, ensuring safety, privacy and comfort, and coordination for discharge planning.

The position requires CA nursing licensure, 2+ years in Pre-Op/PACU (ambulatory setting preferred), and BLS/ACLS/PALS credentials.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current CA Nursing License.
• 2+ years experience in Pre-Op/PACU; ambulatory surgical setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Experience managing Infection Control programs preferred
• Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
• Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
• Excellent teaching, communication, and organizational skills
• Demonstrate accountability, creativity, innovation and adaptability

Responsibilities

• Provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for discharge readiness.
• Oversee the center's Infection Control program including surveillance, policy compliance, staff education, regulatory readiness, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a safe environment and ensure patient safety, privacy, and comfort at all times.
