Job summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is seeking a part-time Adult Education Corrections Instructor for Dyer and Lake County Jails. You will provide high-quality instruction and maintain a positive classroom environment.

The role emphasizes teaching, evaluating progress, helping students develop employability skills, and assisting with job placement, college, or technical program enrollment, in collaboration with corrections staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and ability to use other software.
• Experience in adult education or related field preferred.
• Ability to work well with jail staff and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan, teach and evaluate student work and provide instruction.
• Deliver IET programming combining adult basics with workforce development.
• Assist students with resumes and job applications.
• Administer and interpret HiSET/TABE for placement and instruction.
• Maintain confidential files and proper attendance records.
• Collaborate with corrections staff to support student progression.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director.
