Job summary

YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood is seeking a Kitchen Aide to assist in food preparation, service, and cleanup under supervision. The role runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, totaling 35 hours weekly, with a half-hour unpaid lunch break.

The job emphasizes customer service to seniors and staff, along with maintaining clean food areas and equipment, and flexibility to perform related duties as needed. NYC Food Protection Certificate is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Basic kitchen knowledge is required.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate required or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation and food service.
• Support customer service to seniors, guests, and staff.
• Maintain order in food areas and dining room.
• Clean kitchen and dining areas, equipment, and storage areas.
• Operate dishwasher and assist with lunch-time wash and setup.
• Perform related tasks as directed by kitchen management.
