Job summary

YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood is hiring a Kitchen Aide to assist in food preparation, service, and cleanup under supervision. The role requires adherence to kitchen safety and customer service standards for seniors and guests, with a 35-hour workweek and a 9:00 am to 4:30 pm shift.

Responsibilities include food prep, serving, maintaining clean dining and kitchen areas, and supporting the kitchen team. The position offers benefits and opportunities under the union contract.

Qualifications

• Basic kitchen knowledge required.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to stand for your shift.
• Must read and speak English.
• Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation and food service.
• Promoting appropriate customer service to seniors, guests and staff.
• Maintaining order of food areas.
• Cleaning dining room, kitchen and storage areas.
• Cleaning large and small appliances and equipment.
• Operate the dishwasher and assist with lunch service.
• Perform other related tasks as directed by kitchen staff.
