BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, MN is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department. The position offers a pay range of $19.39/hr - $28.00/hr with bonuses for shift differentials.

As part of the team, you will triage emergency cases, assist DVMs, perform diagnostics, and support ICU and inpatient care, with opportunities for career growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to emergency patients per hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, side effects, and monitor responses.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exams including vitals and assessment.
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring equipment for ASA I or II patients.
• Stay current on RECOVER CPR guidelines and act as assigned.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, MN is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department.

Pay range: $19.39/hr - $28.00/hr

Compensation is based on experience, credentials, and BluePearl leveling, ensuring your skills and expertise are recognized and rewarded.

Shift Differentials

• Weekday Overnights: +$3.50/hour
• Weekend Days: +$3.50/hour
• Weekend Overnights: +$5.00/hour

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handling client communication.

As An Emergency Veterinary Assistant, You Will

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
