Day to Day Custodian Substitute

Title: Day to Day Custodian Substitute

FUNCTION: Day to day substitute, responsible to the Senior Custodian and works in liaison with the building principal and Director of Maintenance for providing services, which will afford students a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, plan and develop.

Day to Day Assignment as Needed (Locations Vary)

DUTIES

• Responsible for all general cleaning and maintenance of his job.
• Performs cleaning services as necessary.
• Assists in snow removal, as needed.
• Cleans and maintains all tools and equipment.
• Assumes responsibility for general security of the building.
• Follows a work schedule assigned by the Director of Maintenance, Building Principal and/or Senior Custodian.
• Daily: Sweep floors, empty waste paper baskets, dust ledges, windowsills, bookcases, clean glass partitions, sinks and lavatories.
• Washes, waxes and seals floors according to prescribed procedures and schedules.
• Performs other general related tasks as may be assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
• Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
• Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports.
• Demonstrates aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks.
• Must demonstrate neatness in appearance and work.
• Good moral character.
• Must be physically able to perform tasks which at times may require lifting and carrying of materials weighing as much as fifty (50) pounds or more.
