Job summary

MENDHAM BOROUGH SCHOOL DISTRICT is hiring a Substitute Custodian for both day and evening shifts, offering $18.00 per hour. Responsibilities

• Secure the buildings prior to leaving for the evening.
• Turn off hallway and classroom lighting before leaving.
• Clean and dust all classrooms, library, faculty room, and nurse’s office.
• Clean and sanitize all bathrooms daily.
• Sweep and mop bathroom floors.
• Vacuum carpet or mop tile floors throughout the facility.
• Clean and sanitize all drinking fountains daily.
• Dry dust mop the gymnasium floor and mop as needed.
• Replenish all paper supplies and soap in facilities as needed.
• Report any mechanical problems to a supervisor.
• Comply with laws and procedures for trash disposal.
• Support after school events by setting up or removing furniture as needed.

Skills

Job Goals

• Provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment for staff and students.

Performance Responsibilities

• Secure the buildings prior to leaving for the evening. Check all windows and doors to make sure they are locked.
• Turn off hallway and classroom lighting prior to leaving facility.
• Clean and dust all classrooms, library, faculty room, nurse’s office.
• Clean and sanitize all bathrooms daily. Sweep and mop bathroom floors.
• Vacuum carpet or mop tile floors in all classrooms and office areas.
• Clean and sanitize all drinking fountains daily.
• Dry dust mop gymnasium floor daily. Mop as needed.
• Replenish all paper supplies and soap in bathrooms and classrooms as needed but check status daily.
• Note any mechanical problems found and report to supervisor for follow up.
• Obey all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to plant operation.
• Clean chalkboards/whiteboards.
• Keep all floors clean - mopped, vacuumed and waxed to maintain attractive appearance.
• Comply with all laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, waste and debris.
• Support after school events as needed. This may include securing portions of facility, set up and removal of chairs, tables, trash receptacles, etc.
• Perform any duties deemed necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the school facilities by the schools supervisory/management personnel.
