Job summary

Scheels All Sports in Bismarck, ND is seeking a part-time cashier to provide a friendly, personalized checkout experience. You will handle cash and operate the POS system, promoting the Scheels Visa and digital receipts while delivering excellent service.

The role offers a flexible daytime schedule 3–5 days per week, with occasional weekend shifts. Benefits include ESOP, 401(k) with Roth options, associate discounts and comprehensive health coverage.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma not mandatory but preferred.
  • 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers with a smile at entry and exit.
  • Provide personalized service and promote the digital receipt program.
  • Scan items accurately and ensure proper payment before checkout.
  • Bag purchases carefully and maintain a tidy checkout area.
  • Promote Scheels Visa and explain benefits.
  • Encourage customers to sign up for digital receipts.
  • Close each transaction with a polite thank you.
  • Operate the cash register and balance the drawer.
  • Be aware of in-store events and promotions.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
  • Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
  • Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
  • Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
  • Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
  • Ask every customer to sign up for digital receipts
  • End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
  • Perform basic math, calculate discounts, make change, and accurately balance the cash drawer
  • Operate the computerized register system and follow all cash handling policies
  • Maintain an awareness of in-store events and promotions
  • Keep the checkout area stocked and clean
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred
Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Scheels cares about the health and safety of our Associates. Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.

Schedule:

Flexible schedule will typically include varied day-time shifts between the hours of 9:30am-5pm Monday-Friday. This will be 3-5 times a week, generally, with occasional weekend pick-ups during peak seasons.
