Job summary

Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an RN Day Surgery PRN to join a collaborative surgical team in Corpus Christi. You will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the operating room with emphasis on safety and workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities include evaluating patients preoperatively, educating patients and families, IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification, while participating in universal protocols and on-call

Qualifications

• RN licensed registered nurse with appropriate state credentials.
• BLS certification completed within 30 days of start date.
• Experience in day surgery setting.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
