BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL is seeking experienced Day Shift Veterinary Technicians to join our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will support anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiography, monitor vital signs, and mentor teammates while delivering compassionate client care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Experienced veterinary technicians for day shift in Emergency and Critical Care.
• Current IL veterinary technician license or eligibility.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use anesthesia equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Monitor vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement in peripheral vessels.
• Place feeding tubes and maintain central lines as needed.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL is hiring experienced Day Shift Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department .

Shift: Day Shift 7am-8pm

Pay Range:

Pay $23.20 - $43.70/hour

*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Competitive Shift Differentials: Earn more with our shift differentials!

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $4.00
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $4.00
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.50

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
