Job summary

Drake-Williams Steel, Inc. is seeking a hardworking general labor/warehouse associate to fill customer orders and assemble shipments of fabricated bar, warehouse bar, and other materials.

You will receive and unload materials, locate items into inventory, and prepare shipments using yard maps and shop drawings. The role requires reading and basic arithmetic, good communication, and experience with cranes or forklifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic with whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, co-workers, supervisors and managers.
• Skill in using measurement and layout tools (tape measure, ruler) and basic shop math.
• Ability to interpret cutting lists, shop orders and shop drawings.
• Ability to use a computer for cut-lists and inventory purposes.

Responsibilities

• Fill customer orders and assemble shipments of steel products.
• Receive and unload incoming material from suppliers.
• Locate material into inventory storage, staging areas, and work areas.
• Identify shapes, sizes and tolerances; load/unload materials.
• Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and jib cranes.
• Move materials safely and accurately following yard maps and drawings.
• Adhere to inventory procedures and attend required meetings.
