Job summary

Bongards Creameries in Humboldt, TN seeks a Day Shift Refrigeration Mechanic to maintain and repair cooling and cheese-making systems at our Humboldt facility. The role covers pipefitting, insulation, and troubleshooting ammonia equipment as well as related machinery.

You will inspect equipment, perform preventative maintenance, read blueprints, install parts, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety and quality standards are met in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• RETA Certification preferred.
• Experience with ammonia systems preferred.
• Excellent math and reading skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Previous maintenance experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must adhere to and follow all Safety, OSHA, GMP, other quality guidelines and regulations.
• Must report all food safety problems to immediate supervisor or designated replacement.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
• Must be able to wear a respirator
• Ability to spend long periods of time standing.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test equipment to diagnose problem(s)
• Perform preventative maintenance on all assigned facility related equipment according to schedule
• Disassemble defective equipment to find root cause
• Studies blueprints to determine configuration of cooling equipment
• Install new or refurbished part(s) and coordinate subcontractor activities
• Repair or replace components for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, refrigeration equipment
• Record repairs done and inventory parts used
• Inspects and test system to verify system compliance with plans and specifications
• Must report all Food Safety and quality concerns to immediate supervisor or designated replacement
• Must be comfortable to work indoor/outdoor, cold/warm environments, crawl spaces and elevated areas
• Other duties as assigned
