Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to support ammonia refrigeration systems. You will maintain, repair, and calibrate equipment, train operators, and ensure compliance with safety and hazard communications. The role requires hands-on experience with refrigeration and related plant systems.

As part of a team, you will monitor compressors, perform routine rounds, and handle line openings, with a focus on safe operation and continuous improvement in a factory environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-4 years of ammonia or Freon refrigeration experience preferred.
• Clear understanding of refrigerant expansion and pressure-temperature relationships.
• Ability to direct and train operators.
• Working knowledge of departmental computer systems and PCs.
• Must pass hazardous materials certifications or be willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, rebuild, and adjust ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment.
• Analyze, calibrate, replace, repair, and rebuild equipment in accordance with procedures.
• Maintain personal tools and demonstrate safe use of hand tools and shop equipment.
• Supply tools to operate systems and perform inspections and repairs.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) and respirator fit testing.
• Perform routine rounds and inspections across the ammonia refrigeration system.
• Isolate and pump down sections of systems as needed.
• Perform line opening procedures and receive ammonia within plant systems.
• Maintenance on ammonia compressors and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls on refrigeration systems.
• Keep engine rooms and compressor rooms clean and organized.
• Swing shift availability as required.
