St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson, NJ, is seeking a Patient Care Associate for Med/Surg/General Surgery. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, basic care for acutely ill patients, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

EKGs and venipuncture are performed under RN directions. The candidate should have a PCA/PCT diploma or CNA certification, or be enrolled in a nursing program with relevant coursework, and may have prior PCA/PCT or CMA experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• PCA/PCT diploma or CNA certification as alternative.
• Enrollment in nursing program with Fundamentals coursework.
• Evidence of Nursing Fundamentals coursework or Nursing Assistant training.
• PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide or CMA experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide basic care to acutely ill patients.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Perform EKGs and venipuncture as directed by the RN.
