Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform and analyze tests across lab disciplines, ensuring accuracy, quality control, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include operating instruments, performing phlebotomy when needed, reporting findings to clinicians, and maintaining patient and specimen records with professionalism.

Qualifications

• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided.
• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science OR Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, or 30+ years of previous experience concurrent with CLIA grandfathered exception.
• Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze samples in a timely, accurate manner.
• Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control and infection control procedures.
• May perform quality control summaries.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed.
• Complete reports and communicate findings to nursing/physician staff.
• Interact with healthcare workers to interpret patient lab results.
• Perform routine and basic laboratory testing.
• Maintain records accurately and legibly.
• Follow hospital and regulatory guidelines for safety and compliance.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff.
