Job summary

USG in Michigan is seeking a dayshift technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment. Starting hourly pay rate ranges from $27.45 to $42.70, with opportunities for overtime and weekend work as required.

You will follow safety rules, use a variety of tools, and collaborate with a team to keep production lines running efficiently. Compliance with housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives is expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform assigned repair and servicing tasks.
• Willingness to work the assigned schedule.
• Understand plant & departmental safety rules, standards, and programs.
• Meet the essential physical requirements of the position. Negotiate steps and ladders.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Understand verbal and written instructions from plant supervision and perform tasks.
• Responsible for maintaining a set of personal tools as specified in the operator rate program.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, conveyors, and production machines; follow diagrams, manuals, and engineering specs; troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Become familiar with the plant work order system.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, cranes/hoist, rigging equipment, welders, fall restraint, etc.
• Work as part of a team, communicating and cooperating to achieve results.
• Take an active role in plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.
• Adapt to scheduling requirements including shiftwork, overtime, weekends.
