Job summary

USG is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a Monday–Friday 6:45 AM to 3:00 PM shift, with overtime and weekend rotation as needed. Starting hourly pay is $30.20–$39.50 per hour.

You will perform preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, assist with troubleshooting, use measuring tools and basic shop equipment, and support plant safety and continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications

• Safety and housekeeping are the first consideration in all activities.
• Maintenance experience with industrial fabrication is strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of rotary valves and dust collector systems.
• Understanding of basics of rigging principles and equipment.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
• Ability to safely operate plant golf carts, forklifts and vehicles.
• Must complete the mechanical skills assessment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, conveyors, and production machines; troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Locate sources of problems by observing devices, listening for issues, and using measuring instruments and testing tools.
• Determine changes in dimensional requirements by inspecting parts with tape measures and calipers.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, cranes/hoist, rigging equipment, welders, fall restraint, etc.
• Provide maintenance information by answering questions and documenting actions and needs.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications.
• Take an active role in plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
