Job summary

Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join a 32-bed acute care unit serving patients aged 65 and older. The role provides direct patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse, including medication handling within scope.

Three 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Full-time commitment. The unit features telemetry-capable patients and high-acuity care; the LPN collaborates with the RN and physicians to assess and respond to patient needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited LPN program.
• Current Practical Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
• CPR or BLS Certified.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the RN, assists with the initial and ongoing assessment of assigned patients through observation and data collection, as delegated by the RN.
• Performs activities which may be delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including venipuncture for specimens and starting/discontinuing IVs and catheterization.
• Obtains laboratory specimens and performs basic laboratory procedures (e.g., point-of-care glucose, stool sampling, sputum collection).
• Performs basic bedside care and selected procedures under RN supervision (e.g., 12-lead ECG, dressing changes, respiratory care, vital signs).
• Administers physician-directed treatments such as eye irrigation, etc.
• Performs other unit-specific activities related to activities of daily living appropriate to the patient's condition.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited LPN program

Current Practical Nurse license in the State of Michigan

CPR or BLS Certified
