Job summary

Knox Community Hospital Laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the day shift. The role collects and processes specimens for testing, registers patient orders, and performs therapeutic phlebotomy with attention to billing details.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, phlebotomy training or 1+ year venipuncture experience, and CPR certification within 4 months of hire. Office duties and potential Point of Care testing are also part of the job.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an approved Phlebotomy School/Program, or 1+ years’ experience performing venipunctures in a hospital setting
• Experience in phlebotomy preferred.
• CPR certification required within 4 months of employment and must be current at all times thereafter

Responsibilities

• Collects, accession, requisitions and processes specimens for testing.
• Ensures orders are complete, authorized, and contain billing information.
• Registers patient orders and performs therapeutic phlebotomies.
• Performs general office/clerical responsibilities and phlebotomy; maintains inventory.
• Option to perform Point of Care tests
