Job summary

UPMC Altoona is hiring for a full-time dayshift Housekeeping role, working 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotation as needed. Starting pay is $14.64 per hour, with union association through AFSCME.

The position emphasizes maintaining a sanitary hospital environment, operating and maintaining cleaning equipment, and adhering to Infection Control procedures. Prior institutional cleaning experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior training in institutional cleaning is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate departmental equipment safely and maintain it after use.
• Climb ladders to hang drapes and reach areas for cleaning/disinfection.
• Clean and service hospital areas, move furniture and supplies as needed to keep areas sanitary.
• Wipe walls, ceilings, windows, drapes and other surfaces; wash fixtures and fixtures.
• Move equipment and supplies as directed; assist with filing/documents as needed.
• Use chemicals safely per guidelines and wear PPE as required.
• Disinfect areas using approved germicides.
