Job summary

UPMC Environmental Services Assistant is a part-time evening position at our Altoona campus with weekend/holiday rotation. You will join AFSCME union operations to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment through thorough cleaning, sanitizing, and orderly handling of supplies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, prior cleaning experience is preferred, and you must be able to lift and move heavy to light loads while following safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Experience in institutional cleaning desired but not necessary; previous experience in similar work preferred.
• Act 34 clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate departmental cleaning equipment safely and maintain equipment after use.
• Clean and service hospital areas, move furniture, and restock supplies to keep the hospital sanitary.
• Disinfect areas and terminally clean patient rooms and facilities after transfers or discharges according to Infection Control procedures.
