BluePearl Pet Hospital in Illinois is hiring experienced Day Shift Veterinary Technicians to support our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. You will work alongside skilled veterinary professionals to deliver high-quality care and grow your clinical skills.

The role emphasizes anesthesia, triage, radiography, monitoring, and mentoring teammates, with a commitment to client communication and compassionate service.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Place intravenous catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
