Job summary

UPMC Department of Orthopaedics in Somerset, PA is hiring a full-time Diagnostic Technologist for a Monday through Friday daylight shift from 7:30am to 4pm, with no evenings or weekends. A Sign On Bonus may be available.

The role performs imaging procedures at a technical level, using prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes and ensuring accurate patient identification, history review, and coding in RIS with ISITE archiving. Strong patient care and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Imaging procedures performed at a technical level without constant supervision.
• Ability to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
• Demonstrates caring and respectful interaction with patients and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Identifies patients with two identifiers and uses universal protocol; reviews history and physician orders.
• Administers PO and rectal contrast per orders/department policy.
• Ensures exams are coded and traced through RIS and archived to ISITE; charges are entered.
• Performs diagnostic radiography procedures using established protocols.
• Utilizes imaging equipment to acquire, analyze and document image data per protocol.
• Interacts with patients and coworkers with care, listening and respect.
• Works as part of the department and cross-department teams to expedite patient care.
• Adjusts protocols and applies contrast and radiation as needed for diagnostic radiography.
• Communicates instructions clearly to patients to alleviate fears and gain cooperation.
