Job summary

Mental Health Cooperative in Nashville, TN is seeking a Resident Counselor to support consumers in emergency psychiatric services. You will engage clients during crises, help develop and implement plans, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams

The role requires strong communication, crises de-escalation, and the ability to connect clients with community resources. A bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in a health-related setting.
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License required.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required.
• Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation required.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage consumers during a crisis to intervene and problem-solve.
• Maintain continuous contact with consumers while admitted to Treatment programs.
• Complete all required paperwork by end of each shift.
• Advocate for consumer needs including Social Security benefits, TennCare and housing.
• Assist consumers in understanding their psychiatric diagnosis and medications.
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and perform safety checks.
• Coordinate with community resources and referrals for services.
• Attend team meetings, supervision, and training as required.
