Job summary

Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. in Nashville seeks a dedicated Mental Health Technician for the Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS) department.

You will provide consumer care, monitor safety, and support crisis interventions during the day shift. You will collaborate with the EPS team to implement initial treatment plans, promote recovery, and ensure a compassionate, safe environment for individuals with urgent behavioral health needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years’ experience in mental health or health care preferred (CNA, CNT, MA, EMT a plus).
• Therapeutic Options certification a plus.
• Visible Hand experience a plus.
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
• MVR acceptable.
• Criminal Background Investigation acceptable.
• Personal automobile insurance.
• Successful completion of Therapeutic Options Training.

Responsibilities

• Engage with Consumers admitted to EPS and assist during their stay.
• Assist with de-escalating Consumers in crisis and provide ongoing monitoring for safety.
• Collaborate with EPS treatment team to develop and implement initial treatment plans.
• Promote a recovery-based approach emphasizing hope, respect, self-direction, and empowerment.
• Assist consumers to achieve their goals and treatment plan.
• Support transfers to Crisis Treatment Centers and units as needed.
• Ensure safety and complete consumer belongings with policy adherence.
• Maintain a safe environment and monitor patient behavior and cooperation.
