Job summary

The Islamic Association of Raleigh (IAR) is seeking a reliable Security Officer to help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for staff, students, volunteers, visitors and the community at the Raleigh campus.

This full-time, in-person role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, primarily on school days. You will patrol premises, respond to security concerns, write incident reports, and coordinate with local responders as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous security officer experience preferred.
• Good command of English, written and spoken.
• Professional, reliable and dependable.
• Courteous and respectful with staff, students, families and visitors.
• Strong observation and situational awareness.
• Ability to stay calm in stressful or emergency situations.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with staff.
• Knowledge of IAR policies and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Patrol IAR premises to deter intrusions and secure access points.
• Maintain a visible security presence across the campus.
• Monitor entry/exit of staff, students, volunteers, visitors, and others.
• Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances or unusual activity.
• Write reports of daily activities and incidents.
• Contact police, fire, or EMS (911) when necessary.
• Assist law enforcement and emergency personnel as needed.
• Circulate among visitors and staff to preserve order and protect property.
• Familiarize yourself with IAR rules, regulations and procedures.
• Address rule infractions and notify appropriate IAR representative.
• Inspect security system equipment for proper operation.
• Report safety and security concerns promptly.
