Qualifications

  • Driver’s license preferred (New York).
  • Strong understanding of OPWDD regulations and person-centered planning.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Job description

SUMMARY

Under direction by the Program Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily program operations and providing leadership, coordination, and supervision within an assigned team. This role ensures the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centered services that promote skill development, community integration, and independence for individuals supported in the Day Services program. The Program Coordinator provides guidance to Habilitation Specialists and Habilitation Assistants, ensuring that all individualized treatment plans, curricula, and activities are implemented effectively and in full compliance with agency and regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide day‑to‑day supervision of program activities to ensure that services are delivered as designed by the interdisciplinary team and are responsive to the goals, interests, and needs of each individual.
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate assigned staff including Habilitation Specialists and Habilitation Assistants. Conduct performance evaluations, address performance concerns, and make recommendations regarding disciplinary action, promotion, or termination as appropriate.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individualized treatment and habilitation plans in collaboration with clinical and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy, including treatment plans, progress notes, and other required clinical records, in compliance with OPWDD regulations and agency policies.
  • Develop and implement program curricula, lesson plans, and structured activities that align with person‑centered goals and enhance daily living, social, and vocational skills.
  • Conduct regular classroom and program observations to ensure the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Support staff development by facilitating training sessions, mentoring team members, and fostering a learning culture focused on best practices in habilitation and person‑centered care.
  • Maintain communication with individuals served, families, advocates, and external stakeholders to ensure collaboration and satisfaction with services.
  • Oversee ordering and management of program supplies, equipment, and instructional materials necessary to support daily operations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of program policies and procedures to promote efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor staff adherence to agency standards and provide corrective guidance or follow‑up as needed.
  • Prepare required reports and documentation for submission to the Director of Day Services or other leadership as assigned.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, staff meetings, and case conferences to support interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Stay informed of regulatory updates, emerging trends, and best practices within the developmental disabilities field.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of post‑graduate experience required; three (3) years of related experience preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience required, preferably in a program serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OPWDD regulations and person‑centered planning.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate staff in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Establishes and maintains positive and supportive rapport with staff and supported persons as well as with volunteers, aiding in retention and providing coaching as needed.

Compensation: $53,000 - $55,000 Annually + Industry‑Leading Benefits!
