Job summary

Lifesteps is seeking a Day Program Aide / Instructor's Assistant in Beaver, PA for a full-time role. You will support adults with intellectual disabilities in daily classroom activities, focusing on life skills, social engagement, and personal growth.

Shifts are 7:30–3:30 or 8:30–4:30. Part-time hours may be available. Generous benefits include comprehensive insurance, paid time off, holidays, disability, life insurance, retirement plan, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED are required.
• CPI certification is required and provided by Lifesteps.
• First aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within six months, provided by Lifesteps.
• Current driver’s license with ability to travel for business and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and participant support for adults with intellectual disabilities or autism in a classroom-style setting.
• Assist with life skills, social engagement, and personal growth activities (arts, crafts, music, movement, cooking).
• Transport participants using an Agency vehicle to the community for learning and activities.
• Observe, document, and report on participants' progress and maintain a safe, clean environment.

Lifesteps is hiring two Full-Time Day Program Aides / Instructor's Assistant for the Beaver, PA location

Position Summary:

The Day Program Aide / Instructor's Assistant is responsible for direct care and participant support for special needs adults in a classroom style environment. Staff assist clients who have intellectual disabilities or autism with activities focused on life skills, social engagement, and personal growth. Examples are: arts and crafts, music and movement, cooking and nutrition, money management, and group outings in the local community.

Day program aides drive and transport participants, using an Agency vehicle, into the community for learning, engagement, and sensory friendly activities.

Staff observe and report on the accomplishments of participants, complete daily documentation, and maintain a safe and clean environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Obtain and maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) - provided by Lifesteps
• First aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain and maintain within six (6) months of hire date - provided by Lifesteps
• Current driver’s license with the ability to travel for business utilizing personal vehicle and proof of current auto insurance

Preferred:

• One-year experience working with individuals in the human services field, like direct care, home health aide, personal attendant, TSS, caregiver, etc.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Recreational Therapy, Health Education, Nutrition, or any other major
• Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators Certificate (ACRE) or Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) certificates are desirable, but not required

Positions are Full-Time, Monday through Friday. No Evenings, No Weekends, No Holidays.

Shifts are either: 7:30 to 3:30 or 8:30 to 4:30

Part-time hours are available also, with flexible scheduling.
