We are growing and in need of a Day Plant Operator I for our VSS International inc. facility.

Our seasonal Entry-level Operator is responsible for assisting with the manufacturing, loading, or unloading of chemicals, emulsified asphalt, and binder products.

Responsibilities:

1. Basic housekeeping duties (cleaning up litter, spilled products, office, bathroom etc.).
2. Loading and unloading of chemicals, emulsified asphalt, binder trucks, tack pots, spreader trucks and railcars.
3. Sweeping building interiors.
4. Proper tool cleaning and storage.
5. Participation with safety meetings.
6. Working as a team.
7. Basic written recordkeeping.
8. Adherence to all environmental, health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
• Ability to utilize a calculator for basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to learn and implement 5S principles.
• Self-motivated, able to work with little supervision.
• Willing to work in dirty and adverse conditions.
• Ability to conduct weekend checks on a rotating basis.
• Ability to observe gauges, dials, and machinery to ensure proper operation.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a Forklift Operator license (OSHA).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for work-related travel.
