Job summary

Ohel Children’s Home and Family Service in New York, NY seeks a compassionate Day Habilitation Program staff member to empower adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. You will support personal goals, lead activities, and promote independence in the community.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, and a valid NY/NJ driver’s license with 15-passenger van driving ability preferred. Full-time position based in Queens with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Valid NY or NJ driver's license with the ability to drive a 15-passenger van strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in achieving personal goals and living meaningful, self-directed lives.
• Lead engaging activities that foster independent living skills, healthy habits, and community participation.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) while promoting dignity, choice, and respect.
• Accompany individuals to volunteer sites, recreational outings, and community activities.
• Complete documentation and progress notes accurately and on time.
• Collaborate with team members, families, and supervisors to provide quality support.

Position includes a competitive benefits package that includes a 403B retirement plan, sick and vacation paid time off (PTO) and health insurance. Salary: $19 per hour
