Job summary

Amego in Massachusetts is seeking compassionate paraprofessionals to implement day habilitation service plans, supervise and train members, and support daily activities in community settings.

Under supervision of program staff, you will help members with self-help, communication, socialization, safety, and wellness, and you will maintain documentation and carry out behavior plans as needed. This is a full-time on-site role paying $21–$25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure awareness and implementation of member's DHSP goals/objectives and data collection; document progress.
• Maintain active treatment milieu during programming operations.
• Instruct, counsel and supervise members in self-help, independent living, communication, socialization, sensory-motor, affective and behavioral skills, wellness, safety, and self-advocacy per DHSP.
• Assist members to achieve goals by understanding learning styles, strengths, and needs; maintain a normalizing learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with members, peers, supervisors and administration.
• Maintain professional communication with members, co-workers, families and stakeholders.
• Maintain an attitude of professionalism in all environments with members, families, supervisors, and external partners.
• Uphold Human Rights, DPPC Reporting Procedures, Sexuality Policies; role model proper dress, language, safe work practices, and positive attitude.
• Ensure Health & Safety policies are implemented; know evacuation routes and supervise evacuations during drills and emergencies; monitor safe routes and transport.
• Support members with personal care and self-help; transport to activities using agency vehicles.
• Crisis intervention including carrying out behavior plans, implementing Behavior Management and Emergency Restraint Training; complete incident reports.
