VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital in Downers Grove, IL is seeking an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician for a full-time, day shift (7am–8pm). The role involves advanced nursing care, triage, stabilization, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care for pets.

The starting pay ranges from $22 to $35 per hour, based on licensure and experience, with a $4,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
• Collaborate with Criticalists, ER Doctors, Specialists, and techs.
• Perform triage assessments and assist with stabilization.
• Utilize venipuncture, IV placement, imaging, labs, oxygen, and transfusion support.
• Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients and report changes to the team.
• Assist with emergency procedures and treatments.
• Educate clients and provide discharge instructions.
• Foster a positive, collaborative patient-care environment.

Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician at VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital

Schedule: Full-time opportunity. Day/ 1st shift schedule opportunity is 7am -8 pm

Compensation: $22 - 35/hr, and the starting range for technicians is determined by licensure, skill set, and years of experience. A $4,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible new hires. Terms and conditions apply.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technician who enjoys utilizing advanced technical skills, critical thinking, and compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

In This Role, You Will:

• Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
• Collaborate closely with Criticalists, ER Doctors, Specialists, and fellow technicians.
• Perform triage assessments and assist with patient stabilization.
• Utilize advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion support.
• Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients, recognizing subtle changes in patient status and communicating findings to the medical team.
• Assist with emergency procedures and advanced treatments.
• Educate clients and provide clear discharge instructions.
• Help create a positive, collaborative environment focused on outstanding patient care.
