Job summary

VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital is seeking an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician for full-time, including overnight/3rd shift (7 pm–8 am) in Downers Grove, IL. Compensation ranges from $22 to $35 per hour, determined by licensure, skills, and experience, with growth opportunities within a large veterinary network.

This role emphasizes advanced clinical skills, critical thinking and compassionate care in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency and critical care nursing.
• Ability to perform triage and stabilize patients.
• Strong communication with medical team and clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
• Collaborate with Criticalists, ER Doctors and specialists.
• Perform triage assessments and assist with stabilization.
• Utilize venipuncture, IV placement, imaging, labs, oxygen therapy and transfusion support.
• Monitor ICU patients and report status changes to the team.
• Assist with emergency procedures and educate clients on discharges.

Come grow with us and make a difference! Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician at VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital Schedule: Full-time opportunity. Overnight/3rd shift schedule opportunity is 7 pm - 8 am. Compensation: $22 - 35/hr, and the starting range for technicians is determined by licensure, skill set, and years of experience. In This Role, You Will:

• Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
• Collaborate closely with Criticalists, ER Doctors, Specialists, and fellow technicians.
• Perform triage assessments and assist with patient stabilization.
• Utilize advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion support.
• Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients, recognizing subtle changes in patient status and communicating findings to the medical team.
• Assist with emergency procedures and advanced treatments.
• Educate clients and provide clear discharge instructions.
• Help create a positive, collaborative environment focused on outstanding patient care.
