Job summary

The Learning Experience in New York is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations and lead a team of teachers and staff. You will optimize center performance, manage schedules, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for children and families.

You will drive enrollment through tours, maintain records, coordinate vendors, and partner with the Center Director to set strategic direction. NYS certification and a strong commitment to service excellence are required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of daycare or childcare experience.
  • At least 1 year of office or administrative experience.
  • Fluent English with strong verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
  • Reliable, punctual, and seeking a long-term position.
  • Certified NYS teacher from B-6 (Infant-Preschool).

Responsibilities

  • Drives productivity for all operational aspects of the center.
  • Manages labor; approves final work schedules to maintain proper ratios.
  • Manages center inventory—office supplies, food, curriculum, staff recognition items, etc.
  • Manages vendor relationships—facilities maintenance and technology support.
  • Partner with Center Director to conduct team meetings and set direction.
  • Nurtures leads through scheduling and tours; follows up to secure enrollment.
  • Leads tours, highlights key features of our brand and center; maintains client connections.
  • Maintains the lead tracking portal and customer database.
  • Coordinates registration and maintains family and employee information in center systems.
  • Communications to families (newsletters) and daily center operations.
  • Open the center daily and ensure it is safe, clean, and ready for children, families, staff.
  • Serve as main contact for parents, addressing concerns professionally.
  • Document incidents accurately and complete incident reports promptly.
  • Provide tours to prospective families and share information about TLE's programs.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct calls as needed.
  • Assist the Director and Executive Owner with daily projects and administrative tasks.
  • Plan and manage schedules for teachers, floaters, teacher assistants, and administrative staff; ensure proper classroom coverage and ratios.
  • Support and relieve administrative staff as needed, working with the Administrative Assistant.
  • Create and maintain child and employee files; keep records organized and confidential.
  • Restock supplies and manage stock room inventory.
  • Monitor compliance with state childcare licensing regulations and center policies.
