Job summary

The Learning Experience in New York seeks a General Manager to oversee daily operations, lead staff, and drive customer engagement. You will apply business acumen to create an environment where families and staff thrive and ensure safety and quality across all activities.

Key duties include labor management, inventory control, vendor relations, and coordinating with the Center Director to set a clear direction. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience working in a daycare or childcare setting.
  • At least 1 year of office or administrative experience.
  • Fluent English speaker with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
  • Reliable, punctual, and looking for a long-term position.
  • MUST BE A CERTIFIED NYS TEACHER-FROM B-6 (INFANT-PRESCHOOL)

Responsibilities

  • Drive productivity for all operational aspects of the center.
  • Effectively manages labor; approves final work schedules to maintain appropriate ratios.
  • Manages center inventory—office supplies, food, curriculum, staff recognition items, etc.
  • Manages vendor relationships—facilitates facilities maintenance and tech support.
  • Partner with Center Director to conduct team meetings and set direction.
  • Lead tours and engage families to secure enrollment.
  • Open the center daily and ensure a safe, clean environment for children, families, and staff.
  • Serve as main contact for parents; address concerns professionally.
  • Document incidents and complete incident reports timely.
  • Provide tours to prospective families and share program information.
  • Plan and manage schedules for teachers and administrative staff.
  • Assist Director with daily projects and administrative tasks.
  • Create and maintain client and employee files in center systems.

General Manager at The Learning Experience is responsible for the operational performance of the Center. They have an essential ability to apply their business acumen to customer engagement and leading people, ultimately creating an environment where others can thrive.

Role Responsibilities:
BUSINESS OPERATIONS AND PEOPLE LEADERSHIP
  • Drives productivity for all operational aspects of the center
  • Effectively manages labor; Approves all final work schedules to ensure appropriate ratios are always intact
  • Manages center inventory- office supplies, food, curriculum, staff recognition items, etc.
  • Manages all vendor relationships- organizes facilities maintenance and technology support
  • In partnership with Center Director, conducts team meetings to communicate important information and set a direction
CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT
  • Nurtures leads through scheduling and conducting tours; follows up with potential families to secure enrollment.
  • Leads tours, highlighting key features of our brand and the center and maintains strong connections with potential customers
  • Maintains the lead tracking portal and customers database
  • Coordinates the registration process and maintains customer and employee information in center systems
  • Responsible for communications to families (i.e., newsletters)
  • Open the center daily and make sure it is safe, clean, and ready for children, families, and staff
  • Serve as a main point of contact for parents, addressing concerns and answering questions with professionalism and care
  • Document incidents accurately and complete incident reports in a timely manner
  • Provide tours to prospective families and share information about TLE's programs
  • Deliver excellent customer service in person and over the phone
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct calls as needed
  • Assist the Director and Executive Owner with daily projects and administrative tasks
  • Plan and manage schedules for teachers, floaters, teacher assistants, and administrative staff, ensuring proper classroom coverage and staff-to-child ratios
  • Support and relieve administrative staff as needed, working alongside the Administrative Assistant
  • Create and maintain child and employee files, keeping all records organized and confidential
  • Restock supplies and manage the stock room inventory
  • Monitor compliance with state childcare licensing regulations and center policies
