Job description

Position Overview

Seasonal position: June 1st - August 14th*

Rate of Pay: $14.50 / hour

Shifts: Monday through Friday

• 7 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
• 8:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.
• 8:45 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Commitment: 11 weeks of the summer (weekdays only). The first week will be camp training, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with parents, campers, and peers.
• Provide common sense, patience, and creativity during camp activities.
• Supervise and facilitate games, songs, swimming, gymnastics, arts & crafts, sports, theme weeks, values education, hiking, and other activities.
• Ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for Youth (kindergarten to grade 6) and Teen (grade 6–9) campers.

Qualifications

• Age 18 and above; High School Graduate / College Student.
• Ability to obtain PA State Police, PA Child Abuse History, FBI Fingerprint, National Sex Offenders Registry Clearances, Mandated Reporter Training within six months.
• All positions require PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History, and National Sex Offenders Registry Clearance.
• Teen Camp Counselors must have a clean driving record and pass a driver’s license background check to operate YMCA vehicles.
• Experience with children and camp activity facilitation is a plus.
