Job summary

Guzman Energy in Denver, CO seeks a Day-Ahead Power Trader to strengthen our short-term trading operations. You will mentor the Real-Time desk, guide trading decisions, and coordinate responses during volatile markets.

Responsibilities include DA/cash and intraday trading across Western markets, working with RT and cash traders to align strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This is an in-person, full-time role based in Denver with 12-hour shift flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, finance, or related quantitative field.
• 2–5 years of real-time power trading, system operations, or energy market analytics.
• Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills to direct a team in real-time.
• Proficiency with trading platforms such as OATI WebTrader, webSmartOASIS, webSmartTag and Microsoft Excel.
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts (overnights, weekends, holidays) in a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a peer-leader of the Real-Time desk, supporting traders during 24/7 operations.
• Provide daily mentorship, trade guidance, and feedback to enhance performance and decision quality.
• Coordinate during market volatility to ensure clear communication and aligned responses.
• Execute DA/cash, hourly, and intraday power trades across Western markets and ISO/RTOs.
