Position Overview

As a Davenport machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, tooling, operating, inspecting, and ensuring process and quality control during the production of precision parts.

Primary Duties
  • Set up, adjust, and operate basic to advanced machine tools.
  • Machine parts to specification with precision and accuracy.
  • Use instruments such as micrometers and calipers to measure dimensions and tolerances.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure proper speeds and feeds.
  • Select appropriate tools and materials for each job.
  • Perform inspections and use statistical process control data.
  • Maintain machinery by applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
General Duties
  • Follow all company processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with OSHA, DEC, EPA, and other regulations.
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes and product quality.
Preferred Experience
  • Knowledge of machining tools, their functions, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of parts.
  • Understanding of raw materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding basic mathematical concepts and problem-solving using logic.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Physical Requirements
  • Push, pull, lift, or move materials up to 75 pounds.
  • Precisely use visual and manual measuring tools and gauges, often on small or intricate parts.
  • Able to frequently stand, bend, and move throughout the shift to perform various tasks.
