Job summary

AMA Global Technology Inc is seeking an experienced ETL DataStage Consultant to join our Culver City, CA team. The role covers development, administration, production support, and ongoing maintenance of DataStage ETL workflows.

The ideal candidate will also contribute Python and SQL scripting efforts, work with Unix environments, and collaborate with onshore/offshore teams to ensure reliable data integration and security.

Qualifications

• 6 years of proven ETL development and DataStage administration experience.
• Unix shell scripts, Cron jobs, and relational databases knowledge.
• Strong Python scripting and SQL query skills for automation and data manipulation.
• Experience leading utilities/frameworks to automate functionality and environment checks.
• Familiarity with Control-M, MFT, and IBM Gentran is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Understand requirements and implement ETL processes using DataStage to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data manipulation and retrieval.
• Manage and configure DataStage environments for optimal performance and reliability.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot ETL issues.
• Implement security best practices for data handling and integration.
• Provide production support and resolve incidents promptly.
• Monitor job logs and performance metrics to address potential issues.
• Plan and execute maintenance activities including upgrades and patches.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies during maintenance.
• Document processes and configurations for knowledge sharing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ETL processes, along with proficiency in Python and SQL scripting. Experience with Control-M, Managed File Transfer (MFT), and IBM Gentran is a plus. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our data integration processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand requirements and implement ETL processes using DataStage to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data manipulation and retrieval.
• Manage and configure DataStage environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to ETL processes.
• Implement security best practices for data handling and integration.
• Provide support for production processes, troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
• Monitor job logs and performance metrics to proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Implement incident management processes to ensure timely resolution of production incidents.
• Plan and execute regular maintenance activities, including system upgrades and patches.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards during maintenance activities.
• Document processes, procedures, and configurations for knowledge sharing.
• Utilize Python for scripting tasks related to data processing and automation.
• Develop and maintain SQL scripts for data validation and transformation.
• Work closely with business & technical teams & manage application support & track KPI/SLA

Qualifications:

• 6 years of proven experience in ETL development and administration using DataStage.
• Solid understanding of Unix shell scripts, Cron jobs & Relational databases
• Strong knowledge in Python & SQL queries to do automation and improvements in the platform.
• Lead & drive utilities/frameworks to automate functionality and environment checks.
• Familiarity with Control-M, MFT, and IBM Gentran is a plus.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery models with tools like JIRA, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear communication and exposure to work in onshore-offshore model
• Nice to have: Understanding and/or hands-on with Snowflake platform
