Job summary

Neuberger's Technology team is seeking an Observability Engineer to lead our Datadog strategy across cloud and on-prem environments. You will own the platform, design end-to-end observability, and drive reliability across critical systems including external sites and infrastructure components.

You will implement logs, metrics, traces, SLOs, synthetic monitoring, and RUM; collaborate with SRE/DevOps, security, and infra teams; and automate monitoring configurations at scale using Python,

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in Observability, APM, SRE, or Platform Engineering with 2-3 years of hands-on Datadog experience.
• Deep expertise across Datadog core products: APM, Infra Monitoring, Log Management, Synthetics, RUM, SLOs, dashboards, monitors, and alerting.
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Unix environments, including agent deployment and instrumentation.
• Strong scripting/automation with Python, PowerShell, Bash; Datadog API/SDK and Terraform experience.
• Experience integrating Datadog with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and ITSM (ServiceNow).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to translate observability concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Datadog platform owner, architecting and maintaining scalable observability across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define reliability goals, dashboards, SLOs, and alerting frameworks.
• Lead migration from OpenView to Datadog and ensure coverage continuity.
• Develop automation using APIs, Terraform, and scripting to manage monitors and telemetry at scale.
• Implement and optimize Datadog APM, tracing, log management, and network monitoring.
• Evolve Datadog RUM and synthetic monitoring to track end-user experience.
• Define SLOs/error budgets; reduce alert noise through tuning and enrichment.
• Integrate Datadog with ServiceNow for incident routing and runbooks; support reliability reporting.
• Champion OpenTelemetry adoption and enforce logging/metrics/tracing standards.
• Onboard new apps/services and guide teams on instrumentation and agent deployment.
• Collaborate on cost optimization, data governance, and scaling strategies.
