Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Datacenter Operations Technician to troubleshoot network connections, support infrastructure operations and perform data centre cabling. This role requires working experience in datacentres, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a 24x7 environment. Hands‑on experience as a Datacenter Ops Technician is mandatory for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor all installation tickets and perform new server and network device installation (servers, switches, routers, and other standalone devices).
  • Perform cable patch installations for IT devices in accordance with industry best practices and local data centre standards.
  • Label both ends of patch cords using standardised labeling conventions.
  • Update tickets with detailed progress notes.
  • Maintain accurate records in the inventory management tool.
  • Coordinate hardware replacement with product vendors as required.
  • Configure network cards, KVM, or DRAC/ILO interfaces.
  • Manage backup tape movement.
  • Monitor work request tickets and address break/fix issues related to network connections (servers, network switches, and SAN connections, etc.).
  • Provide emergency support within ITIL incident and problem management frameworks.
  • Perform Ethernet/fibre cable swapping and verify cable connectivity.
  • Check power status of devices and identify alarms via LED indicators.
  • Conduct hard reboots when necessary.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting before escalating hardware issues to client staff.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for MM, SM and power cables.
  • Prepare quarterly purchase lists for cable stock replenishment and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Handle racking, de‑racking and hardware de‑commissioning.
  • Perform external vendor coordination and escort support as necessary.
Required Skills
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in data centre operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data centre infrastructure, including servers, switches and routers.
  • Strong customer interaction skills to ensure flexible, efficient and responsive service delivery.
  • Relevant certifications are highly desirable.
  • Work in a 24x7 data centre support model and on‑call rotation.
  • Experience working within service‑oriented environments and technical teams.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve issues.
Key Competencies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to established standards.
  • Strong problem‑solving and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent collaboration, documentation and reporting skills.
  • Experience as a data centre operations lead or supervisory role is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to train new team members.
Work Shifts (Tampa, FL)
  • First Shift: 06:30 – 15:00
  • Third Shift: 22:30 – 07:00
  • Each assigned shift will remain in effect for a minimum duration of one week. Due to the nature of the work performed during the third shift you may be required to work additional third shifts.
